A scheduled task didn't run

If a scheduled task didn't run when you expected, or ran but didn't do what it should, start with its execution history.

1. Find the run

  1. Click Tasks in the sidebar to open Scheduled Tasks.
  2. Find the task and check its Status and Last Run columns.
  3. Open the task's menu and click View History.

The Execution History page shows totals for Successful, With problems, and Failed runs, and a list of Recent Executions. Click View on a run to open its Execution Details.

2. No run at the expected time

If there's no run at the time you expected, the task probably isn't active.

  • Tasks with a Draft or Paused status don't run on a schedule. Tasks the assistant creates start as drafts.
  • To turn the task on, open it, set the status button at the top of the builder to Active, and click Save. For tasks with a schedule or webhook trigger, you can also click Activate in the task's menu on the Scheduled Tasks page.
  • Check the schedule on the trigger step. Tasks with a Manual Trigger only run when you start them.
  • If the task ran, but at the wrong hour, check the Timezone in the trigger's settings. The schedule runs in that timezone.
  • If the task's status is Error, Qubit stopped its schedule because it could not read the cron expression or timezone. A failed run in its history names the problem. Fix the schedule on the trigger step, then activate the task again.

3. A run failed or had problems

In Execution Details, look at:

  • Error: the message that stopped the run.
  • Failed at step: the step where it stopped.
  • Step Results: the result of each step, so you can see where the data stopped looking right.

Common causes:

  • A data source step failed. A website may have changed or blocked the request, or an API may have rejected the credentials. Open the step and check its address and authentication.
  • A condition sent the run down a different branch. If the condition wasn't met, later steps don't run. Check the values in Step Results.
  • A Send Alert step didn't email anyone. Check that the recipient addresses are correct and complete.

4. Run it again

After you fix the cause, run the task to check it:

  • In the builder, click Run.
  • On the Scheduled Tasks page, click Run Now in the task's menu. Run Now isn't available for tasks with a Draft status.

If a running task needs to be stopped, click Stop.

See Execution history for more about runs. If the task still fails, contact support with the task's name and the time of the failed run.
