What are reports?

A report in Qubit is a slide deck that Qubit writes for you from your connected data. You describe what you need in a short brief. Qubit plans the sections, queries your data, and builds the slides with charts, key figures, and written findings.

Each completed report comes with two files:

  • A PowerPoint deck (.pptx). You can view it, present it, and edit it in Qubit, then download it.
  • An Excel workbook (.xlsx) with the data tables the report was built from.

Qubit runs the queries with your own data access, so a report only uses data you are allowed to see. When documents in your workspace informed the report, the slides list them under Source documents.

Reports and dashboards

A dashboard is a set of charts that stay connected to your data. A report is written once, from the data available when it was generated, and is meant to be read, presented, or sent as a file. Opening or downloading a report again does not refresh its numbers. To get newer figures, create a new report.

Where to find reports

Open Reports in the sidebar. The list shows each report's Status, its title and the request it came from, its Files, and when it was Created. You can search the list and filter it by status.

A report moves through these statuses:

  • Pending: the request is queued.
  • Generating: Qubit is gathering data and building the slides.
  • Completed: the files are ready to open and download.
  • Failed: generation stopped. Hover over the status to see the reason.

While a report is pending or generating, the list updates on its own.

Checks on the content

After the slides are built, Qubit checks the figures on them against the source data and can correct values that do not match. If Qubit could not produce a section you asked for, or could only produce part of it, the slides show a notice that names the section.
