Managing data sources with the assistant
The assistant can look up your data connections and help document them. Adding a connection, entering credentials, starting a sync, and deleting a connection stay in the Data Catalog.
Check a connection
"Which data sources do we have connected?" "When did the Salla connection last sync?" "What tables and columns are in the orders database?"
The assistant can list your connections, show a connection's tables and columns, and report its sync status. It only sees connections you have access to.
Rename a connection
"Rename the connection called db_prod_2 to Sales database."
Describe tables and columns
Clear descriptions help everyone, including the assistant, understand your data. You can ask the assistant to write them:
"Describe the columns in the customers table." "Set the description of
cust_id_fk_2in the sales table to: the ID of the customer who placed the order."
The descriptions are saved with the table in the Data Catalog, where you can review and edit them.
Save an attached file as a dataset
If you attach a spreadsheet or CSV file to the conversation, you can ask the assistant to save it to your workspace as a dataset. It then appears in the Data Catalog, and you can use it in dashboards and future conversations.
Add a new data source
The assistant can't connect a new source for you, because that requires your credentials. Ask it where to start, and it gives you a link to the right place: Add Data in the Data Catalog for files, or the connection setup page for databases and apps. See Adding new data.
To start a sync, click Sync now on the connection in the Data Catalog.
