Filters and date ranges
You narrow what a dashboard shows with three controls: the date range, dashboard filters, and chart filters on single widgets.
Date range
The date range button sits at the top of the dashboard. It shows the current range, or Time range: all when no range is set. Click it to choose:
- A preset: Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 14 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, This week, Last week, This month, Last month, This quarter, Last quarter, This year, or Last year.
- Custom range… to enter From and To dates.
- Clear date range to remove the range.
Presets are relative. If you pick Last 30 days, the dashboard shows the 30 days before today each time you open it.
The range applies to every widget whose table has a date column. A widget the range cannot filter shows Not filtered by date.
Date column
The menu also has a Date column setting, where you choose which date column the range uses for each table. This choice is saved with the dashboard, so it applies to everyone who opens it.
Compare to
Once you set a date range, use Compare to to set an earlier period beside it:
- Previous period
- Same period last year
- Custom dates…
Widgets then show the earlier period alongside the current one, and KPI cards show the change between the two. Choose No comparison to turn it off.
Dashboard filters
When a dashboard has filters, a filters button appears next to the date range. Click it to open the Filters panel and choose values. Reset returns the date range and filters to the dashboard's defaults, and Clear removes your selections. Applied filters also appear under the header, where Clear all removes them.
You can also filter by clicking a chart. When the dashboard has a filter on the field you click, such as a region, clicking that region's bar applies the filter to the dashboard. Click the same bar again to remove it.
Setting up dashboard filters
Open Filter Configuration from the filter icon in the editor, or from the settings icon in the Filters panel.
- Available Fields lists the fields you can filter on, grouped by widget or by table. Click + next to a field to add it as a filter.
- Active Filters lists the filters on the dashboard. For each one you can edit its Display Name and Filter Type, duplicate it, delete it, or hide it from the dashboard.
- To let the AI suggest filters, describe the filters you want and click Generate filters. Regenerate all asks for a new set.
- Turn on Auto-generate Filters to have Qubit suggest filters when you add new widgets.
Click Save Configuration to apply your changes.
The filter types are Select, Multi Select, Range, Greater Than, Less Than, Equals, Search, and Date Range.
Chart filters
A chart filter applies to one widget only. In the editor, click Configure Chart Filters on the widget to set one up. In the dashboard view, people open it from the widget's Chart Filters button.
