Snowflake

Connect a Snowflake account so Qubit can copy the tables in one schema on a schedule.

Before you start

  • Create a dedicated Snowflake user for Qubit that signs in with a password. The form does not support key-pair authentication.
  • Give the user a role that can use the warehouse, database, and schema, and can SELECT from the tables you want to use.
  • Find your account identifier: it is the part of your Snowflake URL before .snowflakecomputing.com, for example xy12345.eu-central-1 or orgname-accountname.

Connect Snowflake

  1. Open Data Catalog from the sidebar, click Add Data, then choose Connect a database.
  2. On the New Data Source page, click Snowflake. It is under Databases.
  3. Enter a Connection Name.
  4. Fill in the connection details:
    • Account identifier: as described above.
    • Database: the database to read.
    • Schema: the schema to read. Defaults to PUBLIC.
    • Warehouse: the warehouse Qubit uses to run its queries.
    • Username and Password: the user you created.
    • Role: optional. Leave it empty to use the user's default role.
  5. Choose a Sync Schedule. The default is Daily.
  6. Click Create.

After you connect

Qubit checks that the required fields are filled in, saves the connection, and starts the first sync. It confirms that it can reach Snowflake during that sync.

To check the connection at any time, open its menu in the Data Catalog and choose Test connection. If Last sync shows Failed, hover over it to see the reason, correct the details with Edit, then choose Sync now.

Each sync runs queries in the warehouse you entered, so it uses Snowflake credits on your account.
