IBM Db2
Connect an IBM Db2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows database so Qubit can copy the tables and views in one schema on a schedule.
Before you start
- Create a user for Qubit and grant it
CONNECTon the database andSELECTon the tables and views you want to use. Db2 signs users in through the server's operating system or LDAP, so create the user there first. - Make sure the server accepts TCP connections from Qubit's servers on its port,
50000by default. Qubit connects without TLS; if your server only accepts encrypted connections, contact Qubit support. - A schema with more than 1,000 tables needs a list of the tables to use.
Connect IBM Db2
- Open Data Catalog from the sidebar, click Add Data, then choose Connect a database.
- On the New Data Source page, click IBM Db2. It is under Databases.
- Enter a Connection Name.
- Fill in the connection details:
- Host: the server's hostname or IP address.
- Port: defaults to
50000. - Database: the database name, up to eight characters, for example
SAMPLE. - Schema: the schema to read. Schema names are case-sensitive and usually upper case.
- User and Password: the user you created.
- Tables: optional. Table and view names separated by commas, with
*as a wildcard, for exampleORDERS, CUSTOMERS, SALES_*.
- Choose a Sync Schedule. The default is Daily.
- Click Create.
After you connect
Qubit checks that the required fields are filled in, saves the connection, and starts the first sync. It confirms that it can reach the database during that sync.
To check the connection at any time, open its menu in the Data Catalog and choose Test connection. If Last sync shows Failed, hover over it to see the reason, correct the details with Edit, then choose Sync now.
Qubit syncs the tables, views and materialized query tables the user can read, and skips the rest. BLOB columns are left out, binary columns arrive as hexadecimal text, and XML columns as text.
