Amazon DynamoDB
Connect Amazon DynamoDB with an AWS access key. Qubit copies every table the key can list in the region you choose, on a schedule. Each DynamoDB table becomes a table in Qubit.
Before you start
- Create an IAM user for Qubit with read-only access to DynamoDB, for example with permissions to list and describe tables and to scan them.
- Create an access key for that user and keep the secret access key. AWS shows it only once.
Connect DynamoDB
- Open Data Catalog from the sidebar, click Add Data, then choose Connect a database.
- On the New Data Source page, click DynamoDB. It is under Databases.
- Enter a Connection Name.
- Fill in the connection details:
- AWS Access Key ID and AWS Secret Access Key: the access key you created.
- AWS Region: the region of your tables, for example
me-central-1. Defaults tous-west-2. - Custom endpoint URL: leave empty for AWS. Use it only for DynamoDB Local or LocalStack.
- Choose a Sync Schedule. The default is Daily.
- Click Create.
After you connect
Qubit checks that the required fields are filled in, saves the connection, and starts the first sync. It confirms that the key works during that sync.
To check the connection at any time, open its menu in the Data Catalog and choose Test connection. If Last sync shows Failed, hover over it to see the reason, correct the details with Edit, then choose Sync now.
If no tables appear, check that AWS Region matches the region of your tables and that the key is allowed to list them.
