Key concepts glossary

These are the terms you'll see most often in Qubit. Using the same words as the product also helps when you ask the assistant for something.

Workspace

The space that holds a team's data connections, dashboards, reports, metrics, scheduled tasks, and members. Each workspace is separate from the others. You can belong to several and switch between them from the account menu.

Data connection

A link between Qubit and one of your data sources, such as a database, an app like Google Ads or Salla, or an uploaded file. You manage connections in the Data Catalog. Depending on the source, Qubit either syncs the data on a schedule or queries the source directly.

Semantic layer

A description of what your tables mean and how they relate to each other: which table holds customers, how orders link to them, and how key numbers are calculated. You can open it from the Data Catalog as the Semantic model. A clear semantic layer makes the assistant's answers more accurate.

Metric

A shared definition of a key number, such as revenue or active customers. You describe the metric in plain language and Qubit turns it into a query. The assistant uses your metric definitions when they match a question, and dashboard charts can be linked to a metric so they follow its definition.

Conversation

A thread with the assistant. Follow-up questions in the same conversation build on the earlier ones. For example, you can ask "Show me sales by region" and then "Now only the last quarter". Starting a new conversation clears that history.

Dashboard

A page of charts, tables, and numbers that stay connected to your data. Viewers can filter a dashboard, change its date range, and refresh it.

Report

A slide deck that Qubit writes from your data based on a request you describe. You can edit the slides and download the report as PowerPoint or Excel.

Scheduled task

An automation built from steps in a visual builder. A task starts manually, on a schedule, from a webhook, or from a metric's value, and can collect data, check conditions, save a dataset, create an insight, or send an email alert.

Insight

A finding that Qubit produces by reviewing the charts in your workspace. Each insight has a severity, an explanation, and the charts it's based on, and can include a recommended action. Scheduled tasks can also create insights.
