SQL Server
Connect a Microsoft SQL Server database so Qubit can copy the tables in one schema on a schedule.
Before you start
- Create a SQL Server login for Qubit with read-only access, for example by adding its database user to the
db_datareaderrole. The form signs in with a user name and password. - Make sure the server accepts TCP connections from Qubit's servers on its port.
Connect SQL Server
- Open Data Catalog from the sidebar, click Add Data, then choose Connect a database.
- On the New Data Source page, click SQL Server. It is under Databases.
- Enter a Connection Name.
- Fill in the connection details:
- Host: the server's hostname or IP address.
- Port: defaults to
1433. - Database: the database to read.
- Username and Password: the login you created.
- Schema: the schema to read. Defaults to
dbo.
- Choose a Sync Schedule. The default is Daily.
- Click Create.
After you connect
Qubit checks that the required fields are filled in, saves the connection, and starts the first sync. It confirms that it can reach the server during that sync.
To check the connection at any time, open its menu in the Data Catalog and choose Test connection. If Last sync shows Failed, hover over it to see the reason, correct the details with Edit, then choose Sync now.
If the sync finishes with tables missing, the Data Catalog shows Some tables did not sync. Grant the login read access to those tables and sync again.
